Manila, Tokyo, August 25, 2023 – PLDT Inc., MediaQuest Holdings, Signal TV and NTT DATA today announced their collaboration to deliver a new experience for basketball fans in the Philippines and abroad who will watch the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 in Manila onsite: The Pearl can chat with. Country’s first “Digital Human”.
The FIBA tournament, which runs from August 25 to September 10, is expected to gather around half a million sports fans who can interact with Pearl, a conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) avatar powered by Digital Human technology. They will be stationed at special kiosks at Smart Arena Coliseum and Mall of Asia Arena.
Equipped with ChatGPT technology as well as visual and sound sensors, Pearl can interact with sports fans in English and Filipino and answer their FIBA-related questions – such as how to access their seats. She can also give people other useful information, including where they can get their breakfast or recommended activities for tourists in Manila.
A first in Asia, Pearl Digital Human is the latest in technology. It combines speech recognition, machine learning, natural language processing and conversational AI to connect with people. Pearl talks naturally to visitors with detailed facial expressions. Fans who want to receive updates on games can simply ask Pearl, who can tell them about the latest game results, statistics, leaderboards, and upcoming matches.
Digital Human technology is developed by NTT DATA together with NTT Ltd. and NTT DATA Business Solutions to promote smart solutions for fan experience globally. These smart solutions combine creative communication with the latest advances in Internet of Things (IoT) technology and AI to create a unique experience for sports fans.
