Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday termed the success of Chandrayaan-3 mission as a historic moment which will give a huge boost to the country’s space technology manufacturing sector.

“A while back, we all saw history being made when the ISRO chief proudly announced that India was now on the Moon,” Das said while delivering the Lalit Doshi Memorial Lecture here.

The event started with a delay of about five minutes due to the landing, as organizers put up a giant screen broadcasting a feed from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to give updates on the progress of the ambitious mission.

The audience, comprising senior bankers, fund managers, government officials and students, applauded as the success was announced on the screen.

“I join you all in congratulating the entire ISRO team, scientists and everyone associated with the success of this project,” Das said.

“The fact that India is on the Moon today will give a huge boost to space technology and related sectors,” he said.
