A $30,000 technology grant will be awarded to purchase new laptops, laptop stands and headrest printers for 15 patrol cars.
Prior to Grant, delegates did not have computers in their vehicles, making it difficult for them to write quotes and access information.
Now, Sheriff Darren Mitchum says deputies can file reports electronically, access each other’s location and respond to calls faster.
“Every part of this technology is beneficial,” Mitchum said. “It’s expensive in terms of things, but the benefits it brings to each officer, or the officers who have these things and equipment, have so many positives that it’s worth the cost.”
Sheriff Mitchum says the new technology will make the work of the Sheriff’s Office more efficient and may also help keep deputies safe while on patrol.
