Gavin Gines, director of technology for Madison County Schools, explained how the school district is handling the platform. “We’ve had conversations with staff members about using ChatGPT in the schools,” Guiness said. “Currently, our students do not have access to district equipment, but faculty and staff do. And we’ve talked to them about using it appropriately in classrooms.” Erica Jones, president of the Mississippi Association of Educators and second-grade teacher, said ChatGPT has advantages and disadvantages. “As a teacher, the app will have some positives and some negatives,” Jones said. “I’ve already started connecting with teachers in Mississippi to show them how we can use it in a positive way and expose it to our students here.” Gaines said Madison County schools are coming up with a program for teachers to explore the use of AI. in homework and tests.
