Overview

Agency securities lending (ASL) is an important growth area for Deutsche Bank, enabling our client investment funds to earn additional yields on their investments by lending their securities to the market. The ASL business is a global business and runs on a single legacy front-to-back trading system that is being re-engineered over the next 2 years to a modern cloud-native microservices architecture. ASL Technology is currently a global team of 25 people in Carey, Berlin and Spain, with its center of gravity in Carey. As a Senior Engineer within ASL Technology, you will be a key player in the re-engineering programme, implementing functionally complex requirements into a well designed technical solution. This is a professional contributor role, and you will be responsible and accountable for designing and coding critical complex modules within the overall re-engineering programme.

What would you do

  • Java application development in an active collaborative environment, providing expertise across the entire software development lifecycle from concept and design to development and testing
  • Design and develop microservices-based and cloud-native application components according to requirements specification
  • Partner with business analysts and stakeholders located across multiple regions and time-zones to understand the requirements and translate the requirements into a well-engineered solution.
  • Co-working with the Quality Assurance (QA) team on test automation of new and existing functionality
  • Collaborate with engineers to participate and contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions, and specifications
  • Mentor and guide more junior developers when product and architecture experience is gained

skills you’ll need

  • Extensive development experience in Java, Agile software development frameworks and processes, and software design and expertise in Java, Spring-Boot, Oracle, and writing Complex, Structured Query Language (SQL) queries for performance
  • Familiar with designing and implementing distributed enterprise applications with microservices and designing and implementing application programming interfaces (APIs) – REST Services, Open APIs
  • Experience implementing applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or any other cloud platform, and experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications using Test Driven Development (TDD).
  • Knowledge in container runtime environment (Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift)
  • Experience in Unix shell scripting and modern Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tools – Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, OpenShift

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, self-starter and forward looking
  • Structured approach to problem solving and strong analytical skills
  • Expertise in Kotlin is a huge bonus, experience with Kafka message/event stream-processing is a plus
  • Expertise in PL/SQL to understand legacy code to be re-engineered
  • You keep up to date on technology trends to suggest innovative tools and approaches to interesting problems You share your expertise with the entire engineering organization
