Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi on Wednesday said that there can be no peace in Manipur until 6,000 sophisticated weapons and 6 lakh rounds of ammunition are recovered.

Talking to reporters here, Gogoi said, these arms and ammunition looted from the security forces will be used against the common people of the state, which has been witnessing violence since May 3.

“So, how can there be peace and normalcy when there is no talk of reconciliation between the two sides,” he said.

He claimed that both Meitei and Kuki were unhappy with the performance of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

“It is unfortunate that Home Minister Amit Shah fully supported the Chief Minister in Parliament,” Gogoi said. He said that the peace talks have failed due to the presence of the CM in the peace committees.

The Lok Sabha MP said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has misled the nation from the Red Fort because without reconciliation and rehabilitation of the 60,000 people who are still living in relief camps, and until the 6,000 weapons are recovered, There can be no peace.” from Kaliabor.

Gogoi also alleged that the Prime Minister has chosen to remain silent on issues of corruption.

He alleged that Modi was silent on the BJP’s “40 per cent commission government” in Karnataka and the recent CAG report which highlighted several loopholes in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, in which thousands of beneficiaries were linked to a single mobile phone number.

Gogoi said the India Alliance of Opposition parties wanted to unite the country, and “we are confident that we will do well in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections”.

He alleged that the name of the Nehru Memorial Museum in Delhi was changed because the BJP did not like the Nehru-Gandhi family.

“This has been done only out of malice because BJP does not like Nehru-Gandhi family. They keep insulting the family from Pandit Nehru to Rahul Gandhi. They continuously want to defame the family but the people of India have have also seen.” The vegetable seller expressed his desire to meet Rahul Gandhi, the very next day his wish was fulfilled.

“This is the difference between the Congress and the BJP – the prime minister meets Ambani and Adani, while Rahul Gandhi meets a vegetable vendor,” Gogoi claimed.

The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library has been officially renamed as the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library Society with effect from August 14, the vice-chairman of the PMML Executive Council said in a post on ‘X’ on Tuesday.
