Mike Pence appeared at the Iowa State Fair where he was met by hecklers who called him a “traitor” and the question-and-answer session turned into a debate between him and supporters of Donald Trump.

These events could prompt a very contentious battle between the two candidates running in the Hawkeye State, even if not in the polls.

Video showed up Pence was walking through the fairgrounds on Thursday and a man shouted, “Trump 2024!” Wearing a Team Trump T-shirt.

Soon after, a particularly obnoxious woman “MAGA!” starts shouting. and “Pence is a traitor!”

He expressed his displeasure with Pence, using the phrase “higher power” and claiming that he is not a true Christian.

Hecklers taunt Mike Pence as a traitor

Mike Pence faced off again during a Q&A session at the Iowa State Fair, shortly after a woman called him a “traitor” and another man shouted “Trump 2024”.

“Why did you commit treason on January 6 and not stand with President Trump?” a man wearing a Red Sox T-shirt asked.

The remark caused an uproar in the crowd, while a Pence supporter stood up and was clearly dismayed by the claim.

He turned and pointed to the questioner and replied sternly, “I am an experienced friend. Shut your mouth!”

Another audience member poured salt into the wounds by shouting, “And the Red Sox suck!” While it’s true, it should be noted that Iowa doesn’t even have an MLB team, and their most famous field is a fake field built for the Kevin Costner movie.

Oh, and at least they’re not as bad as the Yankees.

To his credit, Pence actually took the question, which he called “fair.”

He said, “Look, I take you to January 20, 2017.” “I put my left hand on Ronald Reagan’s Bible and I raised my right hand and I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, and it ended with a prayer, ‘O God, help me. ‘”

Pence continued, “My son, who is a captain in the United States Marine Corps, once reminded me that this is exactly the oath he took.” “It was a promise I made to the American people, it was a promise I made to Almighty God.”

The former vice president then gave a lengthy explanation of why he felt the Constitution did not allow him to do as Trump had requested that day.

Pence has repeatedly faced the problem of hecklers during the campaign.

Pence’s campaign isn’t doing so well

The “traitor” shouts of hecklers are yet another stumbling block in the path of a campaign that is really struggling to gain any traction for Mike Pence.

Pence was exposed harshly last month when he argued with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson over his Ukraine-first approach and was quickly forced to clarify his remarks.

Pence later suggested that the clip was taken out of context and when suggesting that it was not his “concern”, he was actually referencing the tanks in Ukraine.

Then, clearly struggling to convince Trump supporters of his legitimacy as a contender to take on President Biden, Pence erred in his response to Trump’s impeachment beginning Jan. 6.

More recently, he was trying like a benevolent buffoon gas their tesla in a campaign ad where he pretended to use a gas pump.

Pence’s campaign announced that he have qualified for The first Republican presidential primary debate, which is set to take place later this month.

The race in Iowa is a bit tighter than at the national level. there was a recent referendum Trump is shown leading the pack with 44%. The same poll found Pence 3% of the vote, behind Ron DeSantis (20%), Tim Scott (9%), Vivek Ramaswamy (5%) and Nikki Haley (4%).
